Live talk with Sandy Rodriguez, Alma Ruiz & Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency Founders

At the height of the pandemic in Spring 2020, Sandy Rodriguez happily quarantined in Joshua Tree as the inaugural recipient of The Alma Ruiz Artist Fellowship at the Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency (JTHAR). Her stay resulted in an inspired series of works on paper with hand-processed inks and watercolors, which she made herself from native plants and mineral pigments. The Fowler Contemporary Council was among the first to view Sandy’s new work and listen to an engaging Q&A with curator Alma Ruiz. Frederick Fulmer and James Berg also spoke about the founding of JTHAR and their new fellowship honoring Alma Ruiz.
